One senior officer who jumped to the assistance of a partner that was assaulted by a blade-wielder received the Royal Recognition for Bravery.

Sgt Tim Ansell grappled with twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown after he held a weapon to the throat of his colleague Sgt Marc Foster.

Brown launched his attack as the officers and their third officer, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were conversing to a driver subsequent to a traffic accident in the area in mid-2023.

Brown stabbed and slashed the two Sgt Ansell and Sgt Foster before PC Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a electric weapon.

"Policeman stabbed," the officer could be heard saying over his radio.

Bodyworn and dashboard camera recording shared by the police department depicted Brown, that was clothed in dark clothing with a hood covering head, approach to Sergeant Foster from the rear with a knife pointed forward.

He struck the policeman who lost balance and fell to the pavement, after which Sgt Ansell intervened and attempted to subdue him to the floor despite being repeatedly struck with the blade.

PC Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and sought a safe opportunity, bringing the struggle to an conclusion.

Sergeant Ansell stated audibly: "I need help on my neck now, I've been stabbed in the neck."

Sgt Ansell received two open wounds to his throat and more cuts to his arms and body, whereas Sergeant Foster suffered knife wounds.

The department stated Sgt Foster utilized his palms to stop his colleague's hemorrhaging prior to medical personnel reached the scene.

The new honor comes subsequent to the three officers received departmental Bravery Awards in fall 2023 and the prestigious bravery honor from the local officer association in April 2024.

They were also awarded a Area Courage Honor in mid-2024.

"The responses of the entire team ultimately saved themselves and resulted in no bystanders endured any wounds."

Brown received a sentence to an psychiatric detention in April 2024, according to officials.
