Palestinian-American Adolescent Freed Following 270 Days in Israel's Imprisonment

A Palestinian-American adolescent who spent nine months in Israeli detention absent formal charges was released.

The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim was fifteen years old during his detention last February within the occupied West Bank, while he was vacationing from his Florida home for allegedly throwing stones toward Israeli settlers, which he previously denied.

The US state department said it welcomed the teenager's freedom.

Now sixteen years old, was taken to hospital upon gaining freedom, relatives told the media.

They said he is pale, underweight, while battling health issues developed during imprisonment.

Via family representatives, family spokesperson spoke of the family's "overwhelming sense of relief".

Zeyad Kadur stated the family experienced "living a horrific and endless nightmare" over the last nine months.

"At this moment, our priority is ensuring Mohammed receives the immediate medical attention necessary for his recovery after experiencing mistreatment by authorities and cruel circumstances throughout his detention."

American authorities announced ongoing to extend consular services to the teenager's relatives.

{"American leadership gives utmost importance than the safety and security for United States citizens"," the department emphasized.

Several congressional representatives submitted a formal letter to diplomatic officials and the administration, urging greater action for his freedom.

Mr Ibrahim, a father-of-four operating an ice cream shop from Florida, previously said Mohammed acknowledged allegations about rock throwing after being assaulted by soldiers.

He had not seen nor direct contact since February, and only heard about his son's condition in detention through court documents.

Mohammed was held absent formal charges in Ofer prison on the West Bank.

Additionally housing mature inmates, some of whom have been convicted for major terrorist activities and murder.

There are around 350 Palestinian child security detainees being held in Israeli jails, according to the Israeli Prison Service.

Numerous remain uncharged along with monitoring agencies, and international organizations, document cases involving abuse and torture.
